The narrative begins when a young woman, Eswari, is kidnapped and nearly assaulted by a group of thugs at a cemetery. A drunk Annadurai, lying nearby on a grave, heroically intervenes and rescues her. Grateful, she learns of his tragic past, which is revealed by his friend.
